I have been teaching 4, 5, and 6-string fretted and fretless electric bass guitar and acoustic upright bass lessons in the correspondence format through this web site for over a decade, and during that time, I have instructed thousands of bassists located around the world. As a student, I also studied in the correspondence format from 1993-1999 under the guidance of legendary jazz improvisation instructor Charlie Banacos (New England Conservatory of Music) whose former students include bassists such as Jeff Berlin, Alain Caron, and Jimmy Earl to name just a few.

Why waste transit time and money on gas while driving to and from private lessons when you can study bass online directly from the comfort of your own home? If you live in a remote area and are unable to attend one-on-one lessons with a private instructor on a regular basis or you maintain a hectic schedule due to work or family commitments, studying bass online through my correspondence lessons is the next best alternative. Learn at your own pace, on your own time, in the comfort of your own home, at a cost that is MUCH cheaper than the price of most one-on-one private bass lessons from a local instructor, and you can easily archive the lesson material for future reference. These lessons are for bassists of all levels from beginner to advanced and all styles of traditional and contemporary music including jazz, fusion, funk, rock, pop, blues, classical, motown, latin, and country. If you are self-motivated to practice, work well independently, and can dedicate at least 30 minutes per day to practicing the lesson material, you are ready for online learning through my correspondence lessons.

Featuring both classic and contemporary techniques, an archive of transcriptions, hundreds of play-alongs, and a series of essential listening tracks, you will be presented with a database of documented statements, concepts, and proven strategies which will help you implement all of these components in a musical fashion through practical application. Following a step-by-step, systematic approach, you will acquire the essential skills and vocabulary which are necessary to connect your ears to the fingerboard, develop ideas, interact with other musicians on a deeper level through the language of improvisation, and expand the traditional role of the bassist. Through my correspondence lessons, you will broaden your fretboard familiarity along with your knowledge of chord/scale theory and also increase your technical proficiency on the instrument. You will possess the fundamental tools that are required to improvise great bass lines and lyrical solos effectively with proper tone and feel on any chord type, chord progression, or song form in any style of music. My correspondence lessons are structured for both aspiring and professional bassists alike who are passionate about becoming a more proficient bass player and are seeking an indispensable resource for the contemporary study and analysis of techniques, theory, and principles on bass guitar and acoustic upright bass.

I will then notify you via e-mail with a link to your lesson's page where you can view and download the material at your convenience. Bass lessons by correspondence are sold in blocks of 5 for $80. Currently, with my special lessons promotion, you can buy a block of 5 lessons and receive 3 additional lessons for free. Or, you also have the option to buy 5 lessons and receive 1 live video bass lesson for free. We will continue this process until you feel you have reached your goals or until I feel I can no longer be of help to you after a certain level of development. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with my lessons, I will gladly refund you the remaining unused lesson fees. However, if you will stick with these lessons, I personally guarantee that you will not only see your skills as bassist improve but your overall musicianship as well.

All materials submitted are for placement purposes within my program only and will remain strictly confidential.

Through years of experience with thousands of students around the world, I have concluded that it is best to maintain a level of continuity with a new lesson every two weeks in order to obtain the optimal results with these lessons. This two-week time frame will allow you enough time to thoroughly assimilate the lesson material, and at the same time, this span of time will constantly push your ability as a practicing musician.

If you would like to schedule a live chat session during our lessons to discuss your progress or ask questions, just send me a couple times that work most conveniently for your schedule, and we can chat via my chat room. You also have the option of scheduling a live chat with me on the phone through my toll-free number. If your schedule is just too hectic and doesn't provide the time to meet in my chat room or talk on the phone, we can just as easily correspond through e-mail.
