Thanks for your interest in my bass lessons by correspondence! I have been teaching bass guitar lessons in the correspondence format for the past 7 years, and in that time, I have instructed hundreds of students located around the world. I am a product of 6 years of jazz improvisation lessons by correspondence under the guidance of legendary jazz improvisation instructor, Charlie Banacos (New England Conservatory of Music), whose former students include bass virtuosos such as Jeff Berlin, Alain Caron, and Jimmy Earl to name just a few.

My primary objective is to offer the highest quality bass lessons available anywhere at an extremely affordable rate. Through a systematic, planned approach, I will guide you through a course of directed study that will be conducive to your goals. My course is aimed towards any aspiring bassist who needs assistance and is unable to find a competent bass instructor in his/her immediate area. For those of you, like me, who live in a rather remote area and are unable to attend one-on-one lessons with a private instructor on a regular basis or maintain a difficult schedule due to work, family, etc., lessons by correspondence is the next best alternative.

These lessons are all personally tailored to the needs of each individual in the sense that even though all bassists need to have a thorough understanding of certain techniques and concepts, the order and manner in which they should be presented with this material sometimes differs from one bassist to the next. Through my lessons by correspondence, you can learn at your own pace, on your own time, in the privacy of your own studio, and at a cost that is MUCH cheaper than the price of most one-on-one private bass lessons.

I teach 4, 5, and 6-string fretted and fretless electric bass guitar. These lessons are structured for bassists of all levels from beginner to advanced and all styles of traditional and contemporary music including jazz, fusion, funk, blues, classical, rock, pop, motown, latin, and country. Within these lessons, we may cover subjects such as:
  • Classical & Jazz Music Theory
  • Sight Reading
  • Ear Training
  • Bass Line Construction
  • Right & Left Hand Technique
  • Soloing
  • Jazz Improvisation
  • Slapping
  • Tapping
  • Chordal Techniques
  • Harmonics
  • Fingerstyle Funk
  • Altered Tunings
  • Concepts For Solo Bass Playing

  • We may also study and analyze the styles and techniques of Michael Manring, Marcus Miller, John Patitucci, Alain Caron, Stuart Hamm, Brian Bromberg, Gary Willis, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, Jeff Berlin, Rocco Prestia, Billy Sheehan, Ray Brown, Ron Carter, Dave Holland, Paul Chambers, and many other masters of the bass tradition.

In addition to obtaining a FREE lesson with each group of 5 lessons that you purchase, you will also receive:
  • 10 Essential Listening Tracks With Each Lesson
  • Access To My Streaming Video Library
  • Free Technical Phone Support
