Online Bass Lessons
My online bass lessons are very similar to how I teach privately and through my correspondence course lessons. In fact, much of the material that I have posted here has been taken directly from my private, one-on-one bass lessons and my correspondence program. I have been teaching privately here in Hays, Kansas for 10 years and in the correspondence format for over four years to students located around the globe.
All of these online bass lessons have been grouped into the following categories: These online bass lessons consist of materials that I utilize during my own practice time and which I personally enjoy teaching the most. In The Bass Greats Series, the focus will be on studying and analyzing the styles and techniques of the masters of the bass tradition through select transcription excerpts and Real Audio clips. The Solo Bass Series will be comprised of material I have arranged for unaccompanied bass guitar (my favorite subject material). The Jazz Improvisation Series will consist of various techniques on how to build good jazz bass lines and construct great jazz solos. Slapping and tapping techniques play a big part in my own music, and since slapping and tapping lines are frequently centered around a certain technique or concept, The Slapping and Tapping Series' will consist of lessons addressing the more technical aspects of their respective techniques. In The Sight Reading Series, you will find material to help you become a more proficient sight reader of standard notation for bass. Within the Transcriptions Series, you can view/download a collection of grooves and solos that I can transcribed over the years. If you enjoy the lessons that I have posted here and do not live in close proximity to me, please check out my bass lessons by correspondence program. With my correspondence bass lessons, you can learn at your own pace, on your own time, in the privacy of your own studio, and at a cost that is much cheaper than the price of most one-on-one private lessons. I teach 4, 5, and 6-string fretted and fretless electric bass guitar. These lessons are for electric bassists of all levels and all styles. Within these lessons we may study music theory, sight reading, ear training, bass line construction, right and left hand technique, soloing, slapping, tapping, jazz improvisation, and also analyze the styles and techniques of the masters of the bass tradition. |
